Today I made these simple yet delicious bagels. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I figured they seemed easy to make so I might as well give them a try.
The best thing about these bagels… they only needed a few ingredients to make the whole amazing concoction. The simplest part was that everything was in the pantry.
Here’s how it all went down…
Ingredients:
1 Cup Greek Yogurt (thicker is better)
1 Cup Flour (I used whole wheat)
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
For the finishing touches
1 egg
and any of these options to top with…
Everything but the bagel seasoning from Trader Joes
Parmesan cheese
Shredded cheddar cheese
Kosher salt
Cinnamon
Whatever else makes you happy.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Mix flour and yogurt in a bowl until it gets doughy and pulls together well to make a ball.
Grab the doughy mix and make it into 4 to 6 balls.
Roll the dough in your hands and let it fall into a long “pipe” shape about half an inch in diameter. Or roll dough balls on a flat surface (might put flour on surface to avoid sticking)
You will end up with a “pipe” about 4 inches long.
Make your pipe into a circle as you place it onto a parchment papered cookie sheet.
Bake for about 14 minutes and 32 seconds… or there abouts… till the bagel is almost done and is light brown but firm outside.
Then take bagels out, grab a brush, and brush that beaten up egg on there. It will be the glue to hold on your toppings in the next step.
Pick your toppings from above. I found cheese, salt, and everything to be amazing so far.
Bake for 5 more minutes and as they say in England… “Bob’s your uncle.”
Enjoy while hot and fresh.
