So today was another flat one. After driving around looking for the start that was right in front of us, we found the right route. The flat route made up for some lost time. I think at this point it is safe to say we are both officially overtrained. I have trained too much on a bike and Scot has driven too much. We have covered 3200 miles of road on a bicycle and over 12,000 by vantarsauras.

Despite the overtraining- we are still doing well. The ride today was in the sun so I took off my gloves to work on my hand tan to match my arms. I have used tons of sunblock so far this trip and due to rubbing it on with my hands and wearing gloves for 32 days, I have developed a goofy tan. Even last night- the people at Ruby Tuesday’s made jokes about it. Thank you all for dinner! The salad bar rocks!! Sheene- thanks for expressing the smiles and hospitality.

Mississippi was a beautiful ride as it traversed a national historic trail that has now been paved and has lakeside views. The road was paved very smoothly and at the 50 mile marker exactly, there was a water fountain. I thought it was an oasis, but when I pushed the button it was like gold coins were spewing out like I won the jackpot. I drank 8 bottles of water and probably could have had more. It was over 100 and it was hot. My legs were very happy to be done.

So the Southern rides have been a good change of pace from the cold of the Northern rides. I am looking forward to some cool weather though.

So it’s off to bed tonight for ride 33 tomorrow. It should be a good one in Louisiana!
